Under 18's climbing

At The Reach, anyone may climb under the supervision of an adult climber who is registered with us. The supervising member must be 18 or over, but there is no minimum age for the guests they can supervise. However, any one member may supervise no more than 2 guests (of whatever age) on a given visit.

U18 guest entry: £5 (does not include equipment hire)

NB. If the supervising member is not climbing at all, there is no entry fee for them (except for any equipment they hire)

U18 members (minimum age: 14)

If you are between the ages of 14 - 17 you may climb unsupervised with your parent's or guardian's consent provided you pass our U18's member's assessment.

Assessments are carried out by Reach staff and must be booked in advance. To pass, it is expected that you will have at least six months previous indoor climbing experience. The assessment will cover all aspects of indoor climbing including lead climbing awareness. To book call us on 020 8855 9598.

U18's club

Come and have a go at climbing! Ideal for first timers, regular climbers working on their skills or if you are looking for a fun one-off climbing session to fill in your afternoon. For age 7 and over. These courses are often filled - please book to avoid disappointment (call us on 0208 855 9598). Completed Parental Consent form required:

NICAS

The National Indoor Climbing Achievement Scheme (NICAS) is designed to introduce climbers aged seven and upwards to indoor climbing in a series of five levels of increasing technical skill and knowledge. NICAS is a UK wide scheme designed to promote climbing development and accredit individual achievement. It can be used as a starting point for people wishing to take up climbing and mountaineering. Course costs include registration and log book.

(For those aged 7+ only).

Levels 1 & 2 give young people the basics, helping them to climb safely & with confidence.

Levels 3 & 4 support young people, helping them to be technically skillful climbers.

• Level 1: £55 (six sessions)
• Level 2: £55 (six sessions)
• Level 2 improvers (preparing for Level 3): £55 (six sessions)
• Level 3: £140 (twelve sessions)
• Level 4: £140 (twelve sessions)

School Holiday club

Can't get enough? We usually try to run extra climbing sessions for 7-18 year olds during the school holidays, in addition to the existing U18s Club. Please email or call us for details.
